EcoScore by Pathshala Inc calculates daily carbon footprints using verified emission factors from the US Environmental Protection Agency, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and the International Energy Agency (IEA). Food emission factors are derived from Poore & Nemecek (2018), published in Science — the most comprehensive study of global food systems to date.
Our emission factors come from the EPA, IPCC, IEA, and Poore & Nemecek (2018) — the largest meta-analysis of global food systems, covering 38,000 farms across 119 countries. Energy factors are updated annually.
